Playing an active role in school health research

SHRN provides schools with the opportunity to engage directly with researchers. A collaborative approach to research has been developed within SHRN where schools help shape research questions and researchers listen to schools’ priorities and offer opportunities to be involved in vital health research. At each survey round, schools are approached to ensure that its content reflects their current health information needs. In 2015, for example, questions were added on New Psychoactive Substances and sexting at the request of school staff.
