Your Data, Your Rights: Understanding the 2025 SHRN Data Collection

All the data that we collect in secondary schools for the 2025 The Student Health and Well-being Survey in are treated in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR regulations.

Download our Data Privacy Notice.

All secondary schools participating in the 2025 SHRN Student Health and Well-being Survey also take part in data linkage research. Data linkage connects learners’ survey responses with other existing data (such as health or education records) to help researchers better understand young people’s well-being.

You can read this leaflet to learn more about how data linkage works and how young people’s information is kept safe.

Before completing the survey, all learners are shown a short video explaining what data linkage is. You can watch this video further down the page.

At the end of the survey, learners are asked if they want their answers to be used in data linkage research. If a learner chooses not to give permission for data linkage, their survey responses will still be used in other research and included in their school’s SHRN Student Health and Well-being Report.
